This journey begins with a flight across the Atlantic and than a hop skip and a jump to Ukraine. Schooled on the west coast of the good old USA, I could never quite make sense of myself or anything else. I deflated my wheels, packed my bike in a box, packed a suitcase, a rucksack with a laptop, boarded an airplane and left everything behind including my girlfriend at the time with not even a good bye. With no desire to even consider going back stateside and only a few months worth of food and rent in my pocket, not speaking the language, not one word, I better had better find a way to survive. I had no choice. it was either do or die.
A decade or more later, self taught dev and website designer, I begin to find what I enjoy and where I belong. Sometime around 2015, My partner Tanya and I, during breakfast, lunch or dinner, we would switch the tab over to YouTube to distract ourselves from work. We found ourselves watching Overland channels and falling in love with the Jeep Wrangler. We wanted one, but had no plan. We knew we wanted to be in the mountains, so in 2017 we took a drive to the Carpathians. I clearly remember that day. It was around 02:00 a.m., I was tired of driving and we made a stop at a hotel along the road, we had no idea we were in the mountains. When we woke, and a fresh cup of coffee in hand, we stepped out on to the balcony, WOW!, the hills giving rise right in front of our eyes, the trees were green in late November, I looked at Tanya and said; “let’s move here!” Tanya looked at me and said; “OK!” We stayed a week not far from the hotel deeper in Transcarpathia. We fell in Love. We got online, found a house to rent, drove home to Odessa, packed our cats and belongings, and moved here 2 weeks later.
As our business grew, Tanya and I started spending more time in the mountains. We started out with day hikes up to Mount Hoverla, than we started investing in more professional hiking and camping gear. This led us into spending more time in the mountains. We started doing 5 day hikes and than 10 day hikes in and around Mount Hoverla and Mount Petros. In mid 2019, we purchased our dream, our basecamp, a 2015 Jeep JKU Rubicon. Now here we are, sharing our adventures with you as well as our guided backcountry winter expeditions right here in our very own backyard, The Chornohora Mountain Range.

Backcountry Ski Expeditions 2021
This winter 2021 we are offering backcountry hike, camp, and ski expeditions. These expeditions are not for the faint-hearted. They are a bit on the extreme side, weather conditions are variable and can reach up to -30c. Basecamp will be set deep inside the Chornohora Mountain Range bordering the Carpathian Biosphere Reserve in Zakarpattia Ukraine.
