The Inspiration
Sitting at my makeshift wooden table and wooden chair glimpsing out the window and seeing the mountains give rise a football field distance away having the inspiration to finish this incomplete website that has been sitting unattended to for the last year. I have been reluctant to get back in the chair and hit the keyboard again. It has been many years since I picked up the keyboard and actually got back into my profession as a dev and website designer. I lost that desire completely when I started spending time hiking, camping, skiing and overlanding right here in my very own backyard, the Carpathian Mountains.
How did this inspiration come about? Well, Tanya and I just arrived back home from hiking Mount Petros. The first day we arrived back at home, our neighbors rented the rental house for a week. The renters were asking the landlord about what to do around here. The landlord simply replied “ask Robert, he knows the mountains well here”. So, they came to me and started probing. Knowing I was going to be home for a week I decided to give them a tour of our local area. The next day Tanya and I split the families into two groups. Hikers and raspberry pickers. The raspberry pickers went off with Tanya as I took the hikers for a hike to the top of the ridge right here in our very backyard, Tatariv Ukraine.
During our day long hike straight up the hill Eskender along with his wife and two children, we developed a bound. I started to take pictures of him and his family as a memorabilia of our first hike together in The Carpathians. We all enjoyed it so very much, the next day, we decided to hit Mount Hoverla (at 2061m it is the tallest mountain peak in Ukraine) together. Hoverla is a much more advanced hike, but they were up to it. We ended up hiking up to Hoverla falls and than down the actual waterfall itself. They absolutely loved it and we enjoyed a bowl of Bugrach (a traditional transcarpathian dish) after the hike. We spent nearly a week together with 2 days of hiking and exploring. Now I have all these wonderful photos and a great memorable experience not only as a mountain guide, more importantly a group of friends exploring the mountains together. These moments we spent together have inspired me deeply to not only share them, but to get my website completed so I can share them. Thank you guys for the great mountain experience together. Rock and roll!

We were very lucky to meet Rob and Tanya during our vacation in the Carpathians, as we knew almost nothing about must see places here and how to get to them. Our new acquaintances gladly agreed to help us and even took us by their car to hard-to-reach mountainous places. During our joint hikes, we enjoyed Carpathian sceneries, walked a bunch of kilometers together and were not a bit tired. Our family was absolutely delighted! I think that this is the main merit of Rob as an excellent guide who knows the local mountains like the back of his hand. We met not only good neighbors but also wonderful friends. Thank you guys for these unforgettable days together exploring the mountains and enjoying your company! Rock and roll!

You guys were awesome. Thank you so much for the support and wonderful times together. Feelings are mutual. I appreciate the props you give me as a guide, much obliged. Though I must say we were a team, a team that worked well together, and that team made the adventures what they were. Thank you again, we miss you a lot and we hope to see you this winter! Rock and roll!
